Photo Tour
We have a selection of photos of the whole school to give parents a sense of the 'enabling environment' here at Margaret McMillan.
Seedlings Room (0-2yrs)
Our Seedlings Room provides a calm, nurturing and responsive environment for our youngest children. Staff build warm, trusting relationships with babies and toddlers, supporting them through key routines such as feeding, sleeping and settling.
Children explore through sensory play, soft play, music, movement and outdoor time in a safe, thoughtfully designed space. Each child has a dedicated key person who supports their emotional well‑being and development, helping them feel secure as they learn to crawl, walk, communicate and become more independent.
Saplings Room (2-3yrs)
The Saplings Room is designed for curious, active two‑year‑olds who are beginning to develop confidence and independence. Children enjoy a mix of play‑based learning, group time and free‑flow access to outdoor areas.
Activities support early language, social skills, imaginative play and physical development. Staff introduce simple routines and encourage children to make choices, build friendships and grow their independence in a warm, supportive setting. This room is ideal for children preparing for the next stage in their nursery journey.
Sycamore Room (3-4yrs)
The Sycamore Room is made up of two groups for our older nursery children, offering a rich, stimulating environment where children learn through play, exploration and early foundation‑stage experiences. Children take part in early literacy and numeracy activities, story sessions, creative projects, outdoor exploration and group discussions that build confidence and communication.
Staff support children with school‑readiness skills such as independence, turn‑taking, problem‑solving and following routines, while ensuring learning remains play‑centred, joyful and meaningful.
The two groups within Sycamore ensure smaller community feel, strong relationships with key staff, and opportunities for children to grow socially and academically at a pace that suits them.
Gardens
We are fortunate to have extensive outdoor space, with room for a wide range of physical challenge alongside opportunities to explore the natural world. The main outdoor area is used by the class children daily. Children in other school areas visit regularly.
